Championship Round-Up: Harmison hammers home

Steve Harmison hammered home his claims for an England recall with five first-session wickets as Durham raced towards victory over Nottinghamshire on day three of their LV County Championship Division One match at Trent Bridge.

The seamer dismissed Bilal Shafayat, Samit Patel, Ali Brown, Chris Read and Andre Adams for just 20 runs as the visitors reduced Nottinghamshire, following on, to 68 for eight at lunch, still 117 short of Durham's first-innings total of 356.

Mark Davies claimed the first two wickets of the morning, Matthew Wood (nine) and Mark Wagh (six) the men out.

Jonathan Trott was dismissed for 79, adding just 10 more to his overnight score, as Warwickshire moved on to 317 for six against Lancashire at Edgbaston.

The hosts, for whom Rikki Clarke is unbeaten on 27, started the day on 256 for four.

No play was possible before lunch due to rain in the match between Sussex and Hampshire at Arundel.

Hampshire are 213 for two in reply to Sussex's first-innings total of 441.

In Division Two, Stewart Walters and Usman Afzaal both recorded centuries as Surrey moved their score from 219 for three to 279 without further loss at lunch at Guildford.

Walters and Afzaal, who started the day on 86 and 80 respectively, are both unbeaten on 110 in the home side's reply to Essex's first-innings 401.

Geraint Jones and Robert Key made unbeaten half-centuries as Kent reached the interval on 119 for one against Glamorgan at The Swalec Stadium.

Jones is on 63 and Key 51 as Kent pursue Glamorgan's 317.
