County Championship round-up: Short-sighted Rogers kicks sand into Kent's eyes

Given that he is is short-sighted and also colour blind, Chris Rogers deserves credit for merely playing first-class cricket. That the Australian manages to be one of the most tenacious batsman on the county circuit – as Kent learnt to their cost yesterday – makes him a man apart, and Derbyshire supporters would surely agree.

They made 443 after a match-shaping 133 by captain Ian Westwood and Worcestershire were 11 without loss when rain ended the final session.

Nottinghamshire put themselves in a position to force their first victory in nine Championship matches against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge, having the visitors 220 for 8 the close.
