Adrian Dale bowled Glamorgan to their fifth County Championship victory of the season and into the Second Division promotion zone with a quality display of medium pace at Colwyn Bay yesterday.

Dale took four of the last six Sussex wickets to fall and finished with 5 for 46 as Glamorgan won by an innings and 60 runs to claim the maximum 20 points.

Sussex were bowled out in their second innings for 316 after resuming the final day on 168 for 4, a further 208 shy of making Glamorgan bat again.

It was an uphill task made harder when they lost Chris Adams, who had not added to his overnight 68, in the first over.

Robin Martin-Jenkins and Umer Rashid then held up Glamorgan with an entertaining partnership of 84 before Martin-Jenkins, on 77, played down the wrong line to become Dale's first victim of the day.

Rashid hit six boundaries in reaching a quick half-century off only 57 balls but was then caught at mid-off when he mistimed a drive against Dale.

Nick Wilton also helped keep Glamorgan at bay, but he soon ran out of partners.
