Tim Bresnan
Never the most glamorous of cricketers, there were many who questioned Tim Bresnan’s role in the side, particularly after a subdued showing in the first Test at Lord’s. However the no-nonsense Yorkshireman answered his critics in the best possible fashion at Trent Bridge, taking four wickets in each innings, including a brilliant 4-37 in the second to reduce the West Indies to 165 all out and set up England’s convincing nine-wicket win. England won all of Bresnan’s first 13 Tests and while the rain-hit draw at Edgbaston may have ended that run, the standard of his recent performances illustrate that there is a lot more to him than just being a good luck charm.
