Jonathan Trott will return to cricket in Warwickshire's two-day pre-season match against Gloucestershire, which begins on April 1.

The 32-year-old right-hander left England's tour of Australia after the first Ashes Test in the winter due to a stress-related illness.

Trott has spent time away from cricket since, but is now ready to begin his comeback via his county side.

"Thrilled to confirm I will return for CricketingBears vs Gloucs on 1st April. Thanks to everyone for such amazing support #youbears," Trott tweeted.

Speaking on Warwickshire's official website, Trott said he had been "overwhelmed" by the support he had received after opting to leave Australia.

Trott did not indicate whether he would be ready to make a return to the England set-up, instead suggesting he would like to play an important role for the Bears this season.

"I've been overwhelmed with the kind messages of support from players, coaches and fans over the last few months, and I'm really looking forward to joining up with Warwickshire ahead of the new season," he said.

"We've got a strong squad that's capable of challenging for trophies in all competitions, and I'm determined to play a big role and hopefully contribute to more success for the Bears in 2014 and beyond."

Warwickshire director of cricket Dougie Brown is confident that Trott can make a return for England "in the near future".

For now Brown suggested Trott's first desire was to score runs for his county side.

"Everyone at Edgbaston will be thrilled to see Jonathan return to training after the club's pre-season tour of Barbados, and take to the field at Edgbaston in the 2014 season," Brown said.

"Having met recently, he looks in great shape and is certainly hungry to score plenty of runs for Warwickshire.

"He's been a crucial member of the England set up for nearly five years and I am certain he will be back as England's number three in the near future."

Trott is yet to have a net session with the Bears and he is due to go on holiday this month while Warwickshire embark on a pre-season tour of Barbados.

The squad will return from the Caribbean on March 25 before Trott will join up with them ahead of the Edgbaston match against Gloucestershire.

Trott, a veteran on 49 Tests, is then also due to play the following first-class match against Oxford MCCU at The Parks from April 7-9.

Warwickshire's LV= County Championship campaign begins against Sussex in Birmingham on April 13, when Trott is in line to make his competitive return.
