Lunch on the second day (Sussex won toss)

It has just about been Nottinghamshire's morning here, although the loss of Mark Wagh 10 minutes before lunch gave Sussex some encouragement going into the afternoon session.

Mick Newell, the home side's director of cricket, has expressed concern over Wagh's tendency to get out when looking well set and it happened again today, the former Warwickshire batsman completing his half-century but then driving loosely outside off stump to Corey Collymore to be caught at third slip.

He would feel particularly disappointed with that one, having come though a tough test against Mushtaq Ahmed, whose first 10 overs in the match ended wicketless.

It was a second success for Collymore, who benefited from an earlier loose shot by Adam Voges, who drove a tempting long-hop straight into the hands of extra cover. He, too, had done the hard work with an 80-ball half-century.

Mushy is back in action three weeks after undergoing knee surgery and has understandably looked a little rusty. But Notts will treat him with nothing but respect, given that he took 9-48 here on his last visit as Sussex clinched the 2006 title and sent the home side down at the same time.

Nottinghamshire announced the signing of more cover for their England bowling duo this morning, the New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams joining them on a two-year contract as a Kolpak player.
