Steven Davies hit 127 off just 104 balls to give Surrey a nine-wicket win over Hampshire in the Yorkshire Bank Pro 40 yesterday.

Set 229 to win at The Oval in Group B, Davies helped his side reach the target with 52 balls remaining, hitting 14 fours and three sixes in the process, with Graeme Smith's 74 from just 55 balls also aiding the reply.

Durham raced to an impressive win over last season's semi-finalists Lancashire at Old Trafford thanks to Phil Mustard's 91.

In pursuit of 217 to win the Group B match, Mustard and his opening partner Mark Stoneman scored at 10 runs per over in the first eight powerplay overs – including a run of 26 runs off seven balls.

After the departures of Stoneman for 32 and Ryan Pringle in the space of eight balls to leave the score at 81 for 2 in the ninth, Mustard built upon the early assault to secure a first win at the second attempt for his side.

Elsewhere, South African David Miller hit 101 off just 38 balls, the third-fastest century in Indian Premier League history, to give Punjab a six-wicket win over Bangalore.
