Round-up: Thorp six-pack keeps Durham hopes of C&G final alive
Monday 19 June 2006
Durham maintained their hopes of reaching the C&G Trophy final following a Duckworth-Lewis victory over Scotland in Edinburgh yesterday. Callum Thorp's six wickets for 17 runs off eight overs helped to dismiss the hosts for 161.
Durham were 4 for 2, then 32 for 3, but Gary Pratt's 43 and Dale Benkenstein's 27 not out ensured they went on to a five-wicket win which puts them level with Lancashire at the top of the North Conference.
Northamptonshire recorded a dramatic one-run victory over Derbyshire at Wantage Road. The hosts scored 257 and Derbyshire got within a run of that total when Stephen Stubbings, who had scored 110, was run out and Ben Phillips then dismissed Jake Needham.
Anurag Singh hit 78 not out as Nottinghamshire beat Warwickshire by seven wickets at Edgbaston.
In the South Conference, Andy Flower and James Foster guided Essex to a four-wicket win over Kent - 281 for 6 - at Canterbury with Mark Pettini's 80 from 66 balls crucial.
Surrey fell two runs short of Gloucestershire's total of 339 for 8 at Bristol despite James Benning's unbeaten 189.
