Round-up: Warne routs Nottinghamshire
Hampshire's captain, Shane Warne, led the way at the Rose Bowl yesterday as the hosts routed Nottinghamshire by 299 runs. John Crawley reached 116 for Hampshire before Warne declared at 251 for 3 in their second innings, setting Nottinghamshire 506 runs for victory.
Warne dismissed both openers - Darren Bicknell, caught by Sean Ervine, and Jason Gallian (67) caught and bowled - before the paceman James Bruce cleaned up with 5 for 43 to bowl out the defending champions for 206.
Glamorgan won their first Championship game of the season to lengthen Derbyshire's wait for a first home victory in the competition since June 2002.
Robert Croft's team, the last side to lose at the County Ground, survived some anxious moments before Michael Powell and Mark Wallace reached a victory target of 140 with six wickets remaining.
The Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody admitted the six-wicket defeat by Essex at Chelmsford was a huge disappointment. He said: "Perhaps we didn't learn too much about our squad for the forthcoming one-day series."
