Swing bowlers Ryan Sidebottom and Mark Ealham took seven wickets between them for the second time in the match as the home side were dismissed for 192 shortly before tea. Sidebottom took 4 for 35 to finish with 8 for 100, while Ealham claimed 3 for 64 for an overall return of 6 for 94.

The youngster James Pearson and the Sri Lankan Upul Chandana, who put on 77 for the seventh wicket, were the only bright spots for Gloucestershire. Pearson's 68 was his best in four first-class matches and Chandana's unbeaten 49 was his highest in six innings for Gloucestershire.

Somerset wrapped up their first County win of the season, beating Northamptonshire. Gareth Andrew was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 31.
