11.20 A bad day looms for Pakistan already as Imran Farhat at slip drops a straightforward edge offered by Eoin Morgan.

11.25 Struck bang in front, Paul Collingwood assesses he has nothing to lose by asking for a review with the fifth-wicket stand worth 219 but replays confirm that he was bang in front.

11.40 It never quite worked for Morgan in the session and after adding five runs in 30 balls to his overnight 125 he is lbw to Mohammad Asif.

12.05 Asif is on a hat-trick after his third and fourth lbw verdicts of the morning in Graeme Swann and Jimmy Anderson.

12.45 Jimmy Anderson could hardly have wished for a better present for his 28th birthday than these bowling conditions and he duly persuades Salman Butt to feather his late away swinger.

2.12 The birthday boy strikes again with a beautiful delivery to Imran Farhat which slants in and then darts away to take off stump.

2.20 With his sixth ball Steve Finn enters proceedings and with a bit of extra bounce and a hint of late movement has Umar Amin taken at slip.

2.48 When Kamran Akmal haplessly prods at Finn, Pakistan are 47 for 6 and in danger of recording their lowest score against England, which since 1954 has been the 87 they mustered at Lord's.

3.35 A thick-edged three by Mohammad Aamer during an over in which 12 runs are taken from Swann ensures that the record low remains intact.

4.35 It's five for Anderson, who has Aamer caught by Swann. Pakistan close to following on at 108-8.

5.08 After a spirited fightback, Danish Kaneria is bowled by Stuart Broad.

5.12 The players troop off for bad light, England's assault on the Pakistan batting line-up is over for one day.
