Shane Warne was back among the wickets yesterday but ended up on the losing side in his first match back from a 12-month drugs ban.

The 34-year-old leg-spinner took 3 for 120 for Victoria Second XI against the Queensland Academy of Sport, to add to the two first-innings wickets he picked up on Wednesday.

Warne took the wickets of Lee Carseldine, Steven Farrell and Steven Paulsen but went for almost six runs an over in his spell of 19.5 overs. He conceded five sixes and had three catches put down.

During his last over, the Australia off-spinner Nathan Hauritz, who made 54 off 29 balls, hit the winning runs with a six over midwicket.

"It was nice to get out and play," Warne said. "There were some good patches and pretty ordinary ones. But everything feels pretty good, the shoulder feels good."
