Michael Stich ended Goran Ivanisevic's winning streak by taking the European Community championship in Antwerp yesterday.

Ivanisevic, who had won titles in Zagreb and Dubai in recent weeks, was beaten 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 in 84 minutes by Stich, who was playing only his second tournament since tearing a ligament in his left ankle last October. The 27-year-old German dominated from the net to win his first ATP title since he won in Los Angeles last August.

n Pete Sampras, the world No 1, overpowered Michael Chang 6-3, 6-2 to set up an all-American final with the two-time defending champion, Todd Martin, at the Kroger St Jude tournament in Memphis.
