British cyclist David Millar is to retire at the end of next season. The Scot confirmed his decision in a video interview given to Dutch cycling magazine Wieler Revue.

The 36-year-old has won four Tour de France stages during a 16-year career that will also be remembered for a two-year suspension incurred for the taking of banned substances.

“It has been quite organic really. You always think it is going to be a definitive moment, but it hasn’t. It has kind of crept up and I am suddenly realising it is time,” Millar said of his decision.
