Sir Bradley Wiggins confirmed his return to form following injury with victory in the closing time-trial at the Tour of Poland yesterday. In his first competitive action since pulling out of May's Giro d'Italia with a knee problem, Wiggins had been well off the pace all week, but gave a truer reflection of his current form in his specialist format.
The 2012 Tour de France winner blew his rivals away over the 37km course and the Team Sky rider took the stage win by 56 seconds from Swiss Fabian Cancellara,
"It was a fantastic performance," Team Sky's sports director, Dan Hunt, said. "He made a massive statement today and he has done really well.
"It was a real lesson in how to time trial. We researched the course and it was obvious it suited Brad. It was a flying, rolling run-in into Krakow. He absolutely smashed it. That is an impressive performance whichever way you look at it."
