Laura Davies collected her 23rd European win and a cheque for pounds 56,250 with a closing-round 68 to retain her title in the Evian Masters in France on Saturday.

Davies, with a 14-under-par aggregate of 274, finished four strokes clear of Sweden's Carin Koch, with Helen Alfredsson, another Swede, in third place on 279. A downpour left the course waterlogged and delayed the start of play for four hours.

The weather in Germany was even worse yesterday, forcing the BMW International Open in Munich to be abandoned midway through the third round. The Frenchman Marc Farry, the leader after 36 holes with a 12-under-par 132, was declared the winner without striking a ball for two days.
