Donie Butler resignes from Football Association of Ireland post

Donie Butler, the commercial manager of the Football Association of Ireland for more than 10 years, has tendered his resignation. This year the FAI chief executive Sean Connolly, treasurer Joe Delaney and national coach Joe McGrath have left.

Barnsley have signed Paul Wilkinson, the 31-year-old Middlesbrough striker, on a free transfer.

Martin Hodge, the former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper, is rejoining the club from Plymouth as their first full-time goalkeeping coach.

Mel Machin, manager of Bournemouth since 1994, has signed a new five- year contract with the Second Division club.

The Dutch referee, Dick Jol, has been reinstated by Fifa after being cleared of allegations that he placed bets on matches in which he officiated.
