euro-spy: Germans get a lesson in etiquette

Germany's coach, Berti Vogts, said last week that his players have lea-rned an important new lesson about life in England during Euro 96 - don't enter a sauna naked.

British guests at the team's luxury hotel near Macclesfield were reported to have complained that some of the players had gone into the sauna baring all. Nudism is common in Germany, but Vogts and his charges have learned that the British are not so bold.

"I knew that in Finland all you need in your hand is a glass of schnapps. In Russia you just need a hat. And in England, you must have your trunks," Vogts said as his team prepared to face Russia yesterday. "You have to know." You can't argue with that...
