Nick Faldo is 14 shots off the pace after shooting a two-over par 72 in the second round of the US Tour championship at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Faldo trails Open champion Tom Lehman, who shot a sparkling 67 in blustery conditions to move to seven under and seize a four-shot lead ahead of the Fijian Vijay Singh. Victory for Lehman will see him win the PGA Player of the Year award and the Vardon Trophy for the lowest scoring average, while he still has a chance of finishing ahead of Phil Mickleson in the money list. Tiger Woods, who spent half the night at a local hospital after his father, Earl, was kept under observation for a problem related to bronchitis, fell out of contention after soaring to an eight-over-par 78.
