ION VLADOIU, the Romanian substitute who was sent off for a high tackle on Switzerland's Christophe Ohrel in Wednesday's 4-1 Group A defeat in Detroit, has been suspended for three matches. Fifa also fined the player 7,500 Swiss francs ( pounds 3,465). Vladoiu misses the match against the United States on Sunday and, if the Romanians qualify, they will be unable to call on him for the second-round and quarter-final matches.

Cup-Reyna American out of World Cup MISSION VIEJO, California, June 23 (AFP) - Claudio Reyna, the youngest player in the United States squad, was ruled out of the World Cup on Thursday by a torn right hamstring.

The midfielder, 20, was injured in training two weeks ago and the American trainer, Andy Rudawsky, said: 'Thjere's no chance he'll play in this World Cup.' AFP
