The Crystal Palace goalkeeper, Chris Day, formerly with Tottenham, yesterday agreed to join Second Division Watford with a fee to be confirmed.

Swindon have signed a pounds 175,000 sponsorship dealer with Arkell's Brewery. The North Stand at the County Ground will be renamed the Arkell's Stand.

Manchester City have been ordered by a transfer tribunal to pay First Division rivals Ipswich pounds 1.35m for central defender Tony Vaughan. City had valued the player at less than half that price.

Wigan's Isidro Diaz, 24, has been released by mutual consent after failing to agree terms with the Second Division side. Roberto Martinez is now the sole survivor of Spanish trio known as the "Three Amigos'' who arrived at Springfield Park in 1995 and also included Jesus Seba who left the club last season.
