The Norwich City midfielder Ian Crook has been charged by the Football Association with breaching FA rules that govern dual registrations, after the collapse of his move to Ipswich during the summer. Crook, given a free transfer by Norwich at the end of the season, briefly joined Ipswich before having a change of heart when Mike Walker returned to Carrow Road as manager.

The St Mirren manager, Jim Bone, resigned last night in protest at the club's decision to dispense with the services of his assistant, Kenny McDowall, for financial reasons.
