The Romanian World Cup star Gheorghe Hagi and the Spanish champions, Barcelona, have failed to agree transfer terms. Hagi said: 'I came here with a set of terms and now they've been changed. I am disappointed because I wanted to sign.' The Barcelona vice-president Joan Gaspart denied the club had changed their offer but said: 'We could not agree on some economic aspects. The breakdown is final.' Hagi had been expected to sign a two-year contract worth about pounds 750,000 after playing the last two seasons for the Italian club Brescia. Before his spell at Brescia, Hagi played without great success for Barcelona's great rivals Real Madrid. Meanwhile confusion surrounds the destination of Alexi Lalas, the American World Cup star. The newly promoted Italian club Padova claimed yesterday that they had signed Lalas on a one- season loan. The sought-after Lalas had been talking to the Coventry City manager, Phil Neal, and was also due to visit the German club Bochum in the next few days. The Mexican international striker Luis Garcia has joined Real Sociedad after two years with Atletico Madrid. The Brazilian side Flamengo beat Bayern Munich 3-1 yesterday and win the International Soccer Tournament at Shah Alam Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. The six-team tournament had also involved Dundee United, the Australian Olympic team, Leeds United and a Selangor state squad.
