Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund fought out a 1-1 draw on Saturday in a highly-charged game which saw Bayern extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to six points.

Dortmund, who face Manchester United in the second leg of their European Cup semi-final on Wednesday, took the lead in the second minute when Karlheinz Riedle headed home a perfectly weighted free-kick from Andy Moller.

But Bayern struck back just a minute later. Alexander Zickler shrugged off a challenge from Martin Kree to break down the right and sent in a cross which Ruggiero Rizzitelli headed past Stefan Klos.

Just to prove that there's no favouritism on their part, Udinese, who won 3-0 at Juventus last week, went and won 2-0 at second-placed Parma, thereby enabling Juve to open up a six-point lead at the head of Italy's Serie A. Juve, who meet Ajax in the second leg of their European Cup semi- final on Wednesday, beat Bologna 1-0 with a goal by Alen Boksic while Roy Hodgson's Internazionale closed in on Parma with a 2-1 win away to Cagliari.

Milan's desperate form continued with a goalless draw at the San Siro against Piacenza, Demetrio Albertini missing a first-half penalty. Igor Protti scored a first-half hat-trick as Lazio defeated Reggiana 6-1.

PSV Eindhoven pulled two points clear of Feyenoord in the Dutch League with a 5-0 win against De Graafschap Doetinchem while their rivals drew 4-4 against Fortuna Sittard. Fourth-placed Ajax scored a morale-boosting 5-0 win themselves against NEC Nijmegen ahead of their date in Turin, where they will be looking to overturn a 2-1 deficit against the Italian champions.

Two goals from the Brazilian midfielder, Rivaldo, in a 2-1 win over Logrones enabled Deportivo La Coruna to maintain their challenge against Barcelona and Real Betis for the runners-up spot in the Spanish League. The runaway leaders, Real Madrid, travel to Valencia tonight.

n Hooligans in Poland set several buildings on fire and injured 10 policemen during a match between Legia and Polonia at the weekend.
