BRAZIL FINISHED top of Group B at the women's World Cup when they drew 3-3 with Germany thanks to a last-minute goal from Maicon on Sunday, while Nigeria beat Denmark 2-0 in a Group A match.

Brazil now meet Nigeria in the quarter-finals and Germany face the United States, who won Group A after a 3-0 victory over North Korea. Shannon MacMillan and Tisha Venturini, with two, scored the hosts' goals.

Brazil and Germany produced a memorable, end-to-end game. Brigit Prinz opened the scoring for Germany, but Brazil soon took the lead through Katia and Sissi, the tournament's top scorer with six goals. Second-half efforts from Bettina Wiegmann and Steffi Jones put Germany ahead again but Maicon's late goal ensured honours finished even.

The result means Italy are eliminated from the tournament despite beating Mexico 2-0 in their final Group B match.
