Bury survived a scare at the hands of another Dr Martens League side, Tamworth, to set up a home tie against Cardiff City with a 2-1 extra-time victory. Warren Haughton had given the non-League team a 15th-minute lead and Bury left it until four minutes from full-time to equalise through Chris Billy, before Lutel James hit the winner five minutes into the additional period.
Cardiff booked their passage despite falling behind after just two minutes at home to Leyton Orient. Dean Smith fired the Nationwide League's bottom club ahead but the Welsh club hit back to run out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Matt Brazier, Russell Perrett and Kevin Nugent.
Paul McGregor's second goal of the night with eight minutes of extra time remaining earned Plymouth Argyle a 2-1 win at home to Brentford. Robert Quinn's 82nd-minute volley for the Bees had forced the additional period, after McGregor had fired the Devon side in front in the 67th minute. The Pilgrims earned a home tie against Brighton, who beat Peterborough 3-0.Reuse content
