Queen's Park Rangers had to struggle to beat Torquay 3-2 at Plainmoor. Torquay went one up through Tony Bedeau after 52 minutes, only for Stuart Wardley to notch his first of two goals to equalise four minutes later.
The First Division side then took a 3-1 lead to kill off the tie within the space of three minutes. Chris Kiwomya put QPR ahead on 71 minutes and Wardley (74) added his second of the night.
