LAURENT ROBERT scored twice to give Paris St-Germain a 3-1 French League win at Rennes on Saturday. The win means that PSG joins Nantes at the top of the First Division with maximum points after two matches.

In an entertaining match at the Stade de la Mosson, Montpellier and the defending champions Bordeaux shared four goals. Nenad Dzodic and Patrice Loko scored early goals for Montpellier, but Johan Micoud pulled one back before half-time and Sylvain Wiltord, last year's top scorer in the First Division, equalised on the hour.

In Belgium, Club Bruges, who are expected to challenge the favourites Anderlecht for the title this season, got off to a flying start yesterday with a 4-0 win over St-Truiden.

Genk, the defending champions, drew 6-6 at Westerlo on Saturday night in a game marked by four red cards, 12 yellow and five penalties.
