Barnsley v Derby

Archdeacon is Barnsley's only injury worry, while Derby's Johnson is doubtful with a dead leg, as is Harkes with an ankle injury.

Bristol City v Sunderland

McAree and Fowler make their debuts in midfield for City, who are without the injured Tinnion and Martin. Baird returns in attack. Sunderland's Smith, Ord and Russell are injured.

Grimsby v Bolton

Grimsby will be without the injured Rodger and McDermott and the suspended Woods. Bolton await international clearance for their Dutch midfielder, Sneekes, signed this week from Fortuna Sittard, and include their other newcomers, Paatelainen and McDonald. Seagraves is out after a knee operation.

Luton v West Bromwich

Luton are without Thomas, Hartson, Harvey, Hughes and Adcock, and are likely to give a debut to the 19-year-old Skelton. West Brom's Burgess hopes to play despite a broken nose. Raven has recovered from a calf-strain, while 18- year-old Herbert stands by for a debut. Heggs replaces Hunt in attack.

Middlesbrough v Burnley

Player-manager Robson will be joined by other new men Blackmore, Pearson and Cox, Boro's first pounds 1m buy. Burnley will field four summer acquistions - Vinnicombe, Robinson, Winstanley and Harper - but have seven squad members injured.

Millwall v Southend

Van Blerk, Millwall's new Australian left-back from the Dutch club, Go Ahead Eagles, is still awaiting a work permit and cannot play. Stevens and Van den Hauwe are out injured. Savage makes his debut in midfield. Southend defender Poole is their only injury doubt.

Oldham v Charlton

Oldham, already without four regulars, lack Pointon with a knee injury and recall Barlow. Richardson comes into midfield alongside Halle. Leaburn is out for Charlton.

Portsmouth v Notts County

Radosavljevic is out for Portsmouth with a broken arm. Lee, on loan from Chelsea, makes his debut. Knight is preferred in goal to Poom, the new man from Estonia. For County, Yates will make his first full League appearance for nearly three years.

Sheffield Utd v Watford

Goalkeeper Kelly, a Liverpool target, plays for the Blades as Tracey is suspended, as are Watford's Ludden and Johnson. Defenders Lavin (knee) and Millen (broken nose) are out.

Stoke v Tranmere

Peschisolido makes his Stoke debut, despite being troubled with a hamstring. Veterans Aldridge and Nevin lead Tranmere's strike force.

Wolverhampton v Reading

Wolves will have Thomas back after 11 months out with knee problems, but the pounds 1.3m signing Daley is injured. Reading await a test on Gooding.
