Everton v Leeds United

Southall (back) may miss another game for Everton (only his second absence in four years). Kenny (toe) is also doubtful while Snodin (hamstring) is out. For Leeds, Day waits to discover if he still keeps out Lukic. Batty, vital to champions' cause, returns from suspension, probably for Shutt with Rod Wallace partnering Chapman.

Manchester City v Arsenal

On-loan Ranson, ineligible for Cup win over Reading, is recalled by City whose only doubt is Phelan's knee. McMahon still suspended while Vonk does service in the reserves. Campbell replaces suspended Wright in Arsenal attack; Limpar (leg) is out but Bould returns from ban. Flatts and Carter called up.

Norwich City v Coventry City

Beckford, Canaries' record buy who brought Sky Blues down to earth in FA Cup in midweek, continues as stand-in for Robins (ankle) while Megson (groin) is replaced by Goss; England Youth midfielder Johnson is called into the squad for the first time this season. Rowland, Coventry's loan signing, replaces McGrath for Coventry who remained in East Anglia following Wednesday's woe. Greenman, a reserve-team defender, also summoned.

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea

Webb, cup-tied in midweek, returns for Wilson (knee ligaments) while Bannister replaces Black in Forest line-up. Chelsea may drop unproductive Fleck in favour of fellow-Scot Spencer while Johnsen should fill in for sweeper Lee (hamstring). Hall, back from suspension, may dislodge Clarke while Kharin watches Hitchcock from the bench.

Oldham Athletic v Blackburn Rovers

Oldham have doubts over Brennan (groin), Barlow (back) and Henry (thigh) so Palmer and Pointon added to the squad defeated at Tranmere in Cup. Rovers continue with American deputy Wegerle for injured Shearer (cartilage); Moran in action despite damaged nose sustained against Wimbledon.

Sheffield United v Ipswich Town

Loan Carr drives straight into Blades' side replacing Littlejohn (ban). Pemberton faces fitness test and Kite, recalled from Crewe, is stand-by custodian. Ipswich include Linighan (flu) and Wark (hamstring).

Southampton v Crystal Palace

Dowie available for Southampton after a ban, but Dixon preferred in unchanged team. Dowie, Groves and Banger, who has scored five in his last two reserve-team appearances, compete for space on the bench. Palace's Young starts two-match ban so transfer-listed Sinnott recalled to squad along with Osborn (ankle). Late checks on Thorn (dead leg) and Armstrong (knee) but Shaw (cracked ribs) is still out.

Tottenham v Sheffield Wednesday

Wednesday winger Waddle returns to Tottenham for the first time since pounds 4.2m move to Marseille four years ago; welcome should be warm. Spurs are likely to be unchanged with Durie, out of favour for five matches and sought by Rangers, earmarked for a friendly at non-League Harrow Borough. Owls give Wilson (ankle) a late test; Hyde and Bart-Williams standing by while Anderson and Hirst are both fit.

Wimbledon v Liverpool

Barton (knee) and Holdsworth (thigh) face fitness checks for Wimbledon who hope to worsen Liverpool's week. Visitors buoyed by timely return of Rush and Wright, although Nicol (rib) is still missing and Thomas (snapped Achilles) is out for the season.

TOMORROW

Aston Villa v Middlesbrough

Dalian Atkinson's groin trouble is responding to treatment, but his return for Villa is likely to be delayed, until Wednesday's FA Cup replay at Bristol Rovers. Yorke is expected to partner Saunders in televised tussle with Froggatt staying in his left-sided midfield role. Fleming (back) is out for Middlesbrough but Whyte (calf) could return. Hignett available following Crewe- induced Cup ineligibility.
