Unsung foreign legionnaires No 38

STEPHANE POUNEWATCHY: We started the season with this 31-year-old French defender, so it seems only apt to end it with him. The week after he was featured in this spot last August, he was released early from his one- month contract with Dundee and within days had signed for Port Vale, for whom he played a match and a half. Perhaps both Dundee and Vale let Stephane go having scoured his relegation record. He attained demotion with both the French teams he played for, Martigues and Guegnon, and then with Carlisle, the first British club he joined. He cost Carlisle nothing, and was a key member of the side that fell from the Second to Third Division last May. After his flirtation with Vale, Stephane joined Colchester in February and is now a regular starter.
