Uefa, European football's governing body, yesterday decided that, from next season, the European Cup and Cup-Winners' Cup finals can be decided by sudden-death extra-time. It also confirmed there will be a new preliminary round in the Uefa Cup in July. All losing teams in the qualifying round for the Champions' League will automatically go forward to the first round of the Uefa Cup.

Leeds United have signed a new four-year shirt sponsorship deal with Packard Bell worth pounds 8m, believed to be the second most valuable in the Premiership.

Tomorrow's Hereford v Darlington Third Division fixture has been switched to Darlington as Hereford's pitch is waterlogged. Hereford will now entertain Darlington on 23 April.
