Barcelona players agree to wage cuts worth €120m
Agreement in principle has been reached as La Liga club attempt to tackle their financial problems
Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle with their players to introduce wage cuts that will save the club €122million (£110m).
Captain Lionel Messi and his team-mates will see their salaries reduced so as to ease the financial burden on the La Liga club amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Alongside the significant initial saving, Barca have deferred €50m in variable payments over a three-year period.
“This principle of agreement is pending ratification in the coming days by the group of players and coaches affected,” read a club statement.

“The agreement, if it is ratified, will be a milestone of great importance to redirect the current economic situation.
