Ryan Giggs, who turns 40 on Friday, says it was “a pleasure” to play with his Manchester United team-mates in their 5-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen, and while it was the club’s biggest Champions League away victory, he claims they “could have scored more”.
“We really killed them on the counter-attack,” the Welshman said. “The first goal was an example of that and it was pleasure to play behind the front four.
“It was a night where everything clicked,” Giggs, who created the fifth for Nani with a delightful lofted ball, added. “Saying that we could have scored more goals but we don't want to be too greedy and to score five goals anywhere in Europe is brilliant.”
Asked by Sky Sports how he keeps on going as he nears his 40th year, Giggs was quick to praise his team-mates, singling out midfield partner Phil Jones.
“It's a pleasure [to play with this team]. I enjoy playing with Jona [Phil Jones], he does my running for me.”
