Beckham made his debut for AC Milan in a friendly against Hamburger SV

David Beckham feels he is ready for his Serie A debut after playing his first game for AC Milan yesterday.

Beckham enjoyed a solid first outing in the Rossoneri shirt, playing the first 45 minutes of a friendly against Hamburg in Dubai, which his new team won 5-4 on penalties.

And the former England captain, who has joined Milan on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy until 8 March, now cannot wait for his first Serie A experience which could take place against Roma on Sunday.

"I'm very happy about my first game in the Milan shirt," said Beckham. "I'm pleased with my performance.

"I feel a bit tired now, but that's normal after all these days of intense work.

"I felt good. My team-mates are extraordinary and it's easy to play with them.

"I'm available (for the game against Roma) and it'll be a great moment for me, whether I play or not.

"I'm happy to be in this team and this intense period of work has really helped me a lot."

Beckham, 33, has not played since the end of the Major League Soccer season in October, but Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with his display.

He said: "Beckham had a really good game doing what he'd been asked to do.

"Obviously it's difficult to immediately demand his best when he's only been training with us for eight days.

"I'm very pleased with the work that's been done in the past few days."
