Champions League round-up: Six of the best for Mourinho while Cole keeps Lille in contention

Real Madrid wrapped up first place in their Champions League group and served notice they will be serious contenders to seize Barcelona's crown this season by thrashing Dynamo Zagreb 6-2 at the Bernabeu last night.

Manager Jose Mourinho sent out a weakened side, with Cristiano Ronaldo rested, but they were still too powerful for Dynamo and raced into a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes. Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the second minute, while strikes from Jose Maria Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain soon followed. German playmaker Mesut Ozil added a fourth in the 20th minute.

Callejon and Benzema scored again after the break but as they eased off Dynamo's Fatos Beqiraj scored the first goal against Real in Europe this season with a header in the 81st and Ivan Tomecak bundled in a second at the end.

In the other game in the group, Ajax got a vital point at Lyons through a 0-0 draw at Stade Gerland which keeps the Dutch side three points clear in second place.

Both sides wasted good chances to snatch victory, with Lyons going close late on when playmaker Yoann Gourcuff's shot shaved the post. Ajax will only need a point at home to Real in their final game to reach the last 16.

Joe Cole set up one of Lille's goals as the French champions picked up their first win in Group B by beating CSKA 2-0 in a freezing Moscow.

Lille missed several good chances in the first half but home defender Vasily Berezutsky skewed the ball into his own goal shortly after the break to put the visitors ahead. Moussa Sow then sealed Lille's victory midway through the second half, tapping into an empty net after Cole's shot hit a post.

Internazionale are certain to finish top after drawing 1-1 in Trabzonspor but Lille's win keeps them in contention for second place.
