Chelsea troll Arsenal brilliantly on Twitter: 'A 3-0 lead can be a dangerous one in the Champions League'

The Gunners found out this the hard way a couple of weeks ago

Chelsea appeared to take a cheeky dig at Premier League rivals Arsenal last night, with the club's Twitter account tweeting during their 5-0 win at Schalke that "a 3-0 lead can be a dangerous one in the Champions League".

In their last Champions League game, the beleaguered Gunners drew 3-3 with Belgian side Anderlecht at the Emirates Stadium after leading 3-0 with 29 minutes remaining.

Chelsea could, of course, be referencing the famous 2005 Champions League final, when AC Milan surrendered a 3-0 lead against Liverpool. The match finished 3-3 after extra time and Liverpool won on penalties.

The Blues ran out 5-0 winners against Schalke, managed by former boss Roberto Di Matteo, at the Veltins-Arena. Chelsea's manager, Jose Mourinho, claimed afterwards his Chelsea team were playing the best football of any Chelsea team in recent memory.

“I’m very pleased, it was a very impressive performance,” said Mourinho. “I don't remember Chelsea playing in this way away from home [before]. Obviously there have been great victories away from home with me, with Roberto [Di Matteo], with other managers. But this was very impressive. The media are going to say Schalke were not good, they made mistakes, but the reality is any team that played against us would feel it was very difficult.”
