Paris Saint-German return to the scene of their crushing exit in last season’s quarter-finals when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Having contained their opponents in Paris and grabbed that all-important away goal, Chelsea, so far unbeaten in the competition, are unlikely to employ the most ambitious attacking tactics in their quest for a quarter-final spot.

While Chelsea arrive on the back of their Capital One Cup triumph and a league victory over West Ham, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Arsenal’s European conquerors Monaco in the French Cup and an impressive 4-1 win over struggling Lens.

KICK-OFF: Wednesday, 7.45pm

PAST THREE MEETINGS…

Paris Saint-Germain 1 (Cavani) Chelsea 1 (Ivanovich), Champions League, February 2015

Chelsea 2 (Ba, Schurrle) Paris Saint-Germain 0, Champions League, April 2014

Paris Saint-Germain 3 (Lavezzi, Luiz (OG), Pastore) Chelsea 1 (Hazard), Champions League, April 2014

STATS…

Chelsea managed just two attempts at goal in the first leg, with the goal being the only one on target.

Chelsea are unbeaten at home against French opposition (W4, D2).

Paris Saint-Germain have not scored an away goal against English teams in five matches.

Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge last season was their only loss in the Champions League knockout stages in nine games (W4, D4).

ODDS…

Chelsea to win: 2.05

Paris Saint-Germain to win: 4.33

Draw: 3.5

TV: Live on Sky Sports 5 at 7.45pm
