Javier Hernandez was seen almost crying in the dugout after scoring the winning goal for Real Madrid against local rivals Atletico.

The Mexican striker, on loan from Manchester United, has had a torrid season for Carlo Ancelotti's team, scoring just four goals all season before the Champions League quarter-final.

His night wasn't going much better against Diego Simeone's Rojiblanco. Thrust into the starting line-up for just the fifth time this season, the rusty 260year-old had three excellent chances in the game.

He hit the side netting and failed to capitalise when put through clean on goal, Atletico goalkeeper producing an excellent one-on-one save - in total Hernandez had seven shots.

But with Arda Turan sent off with just 13 minutes remaining, Real Madrid stepped up the pressure and he was finally able to score his first goal in the competition since November 2012.

James Rodriguez slipped a pass through to Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese cutting back to Hernandez to apply the finish.

He was substituted soon after and was seen looking like he was crying as he sat on the Real Madrid bench - although there was some suggestion that the tears were out of frustration as he picked up an injury.
