Arsenal will look to get their Champions League campaign off to an impressive start tonight in Marseilles, and the omens look good for Arsene Wenger's side - they have never lost a European match to French opposition away in France.

There has been, however, two very notable, and painful defeats for the Gunners in European competitions in France - the Cup Winners' Cup final in 1995 at the Parc des Princes in Paris, which Arsenal lost 2-1 to Real Zaragoza thanks to Nayim's infamous effort from the halfway line, and the Champions League final in 2006, when 10-man Arsenal could not hold on against Barcelona at the Stade de France, also in Paris, losing 2-1.
