Life in Madrid just doesn't get any better for Gareth Bale. Despite not being the worst player on the pitch during their Champions League elimination at the hands of Juventus, Bale was target with abuse by Real fans on his departure from the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Welshman, who cost Real £86m in 2013 when he became the most expensive footballer in history, was booed and jeered as he emerged behind the wheel of his Audi Q7. According to a YouTube video that emerged of the incident, police cleared a path for the winger, where abusive chants of “mother******” and “son of a b****” rained down on the 25-year-old.

The former Tottenham star could be seen through the window looking slightly intimidated by the scenario, and it left him rather flustered as he exit the Madrid stadium only to drive the wrong way.

Despite a Spanish policeman clearly pointing the under-pressure star to turn right, he turned left. He then kept edging forward until he nearly ran over the same policeman, and when he finally gave in to follow the instructions, the turning angle on his Audi let him down as he steered straight into a mini-bus, forcing him to reverse back towards his not-so-adoring abusers.

Doubts remain over Bale’s future at Real, despite scoring the Champions League-winning goal in last season’s final. The axe looks set to fall on manager Carlo Ancelotti, but it remains to be seen what will become of Bale amid talk of a return to the Premier League this summer.
