Gary Neville’s spell as Valencia manager has continued to spiral from bad to worse with Barcelona defeating the struggling outfit 7-0 at the Nou Camp tonight.

Luis Suarez, scoring four, and Lionel Messi, breaking the 500 career goals marker, both picked up hat-tricks as Neymar also missed a first-half penalty – a decision which saw Shkodran Mustafi sent off. Neville, who continues to work as an England coach on top of his commitments at the Mestalla, is yet to register a La Liga victory since taking over.

Tonight’s Copa del Rey semi-final with Barca offered the former Manchester United defender with an opportunity to belay fears about their form with a final appearance.

Valencia sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch recently handed the 40-year-old with a dreaded public vote of confidence, saying: “Gary has only been with us a short time. He didn’t prepare the team in pre-season, so the situation wasn’t easy when he arrived.

“I have total confidence [in Neville] and I give him all of my support. We’re calm and we know he’s going to turn this situation around.”

But what was the opinion on Twitter? It’s safe to say they’ve chipped in with their views..
