Gianluigi Buffon proved once again why he is among the greatest goalkeepers to ever play after a brilliant first-half display at the Bernabeu.

The Italian goalkeeper, 37, was excellent against waves of Real Madrid attackers, making three crucial saves in the first 45.

He was hardly getting help from his defenders either, as the Juventus back four of Stephan Lichtsteiner, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Patrice Evra failed to win a single tackle in the opening perioid.

The only time he was beaten came when James Rodriguez went down softly under pressure from Chiellini, a challenge that was deemed a foul and a penalty - Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to score.

Down the other end and Iker Casillas was barely in the game - until he made a critical error to allow former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata to score his second goal of the tie and put Juventus ahead on aggregate.

Casillas was perhaps fouled in the build up to the goal but was not strong enough to claim a high ball.

However, Casillas did make amends ten minutes later when he thwarted Claudio Marchisio, who was through one-on-one. The Spanish keeper got down to his left brilliantly to save.
