James Milner is a solid and dependable member of the Manchester City squad, capable of filling a number of positions with his assured, if unspectacular, play.

He's not the most exciting person to watch and goes about his business off the pitch in a similar manner - he's not one to be caught up in tabloid scandal.

The parody Twitter account 'Boring James Milner' has more than 335,000 followers, posting humorous messages about the City No 7 going about his daily business.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Roma at the Etihad, the real Milner gave arguably the most boring, clichéd interview a footballer is likely to give.

Milner handed out pearls of observation on the draw, which was a bad result for City considering Bayern Munich again won.

He said: "It’s disappointing, we obviously we wanted to win the game, it’s important to win your home games and we haven’t managed to do that.

"We probably didn’t do enough to win the game maybe, we didn’t play like we normally can, but it’s still in our hands, theres a long way to go and hopefully we can improve."

Despite Roma being the better team for much of the match, Milner opted to pigeon-hole the unbeaten Serie A side, who have won six out of seven matches this season.

"They come and made it difficult for us," he added, despite Roma having more shots on target as well as hitting the bar. "They were well organised and a strong team. Italian teams are always well organised and difficult to break down."

What must City do to improve against CSKA Moscow to kick-start their stuttering European campaign?

"Get a win at all costs really. Hopefully we play well as well but you can’t always do that, it’s all about thew three points the next game, but no games are easy in the Champions League."
