Luke Shaw suffered a horrific double leg fracture while playing for Manchester United against PSV in their 2-1 defeat tonight, after clashing with PSV defender Hector Moreno. The left-back has since tweeted that he is "gutted" and "will come back stronger".

There were graphic scenes as the 20-year-old lay on the ground after the incident in the 14th minute. Moreno looked visibly distressed.

Shaw has tweeted:

Shaw also responded to a message from his former club Southampton:

From Aaron Ramsey, who has now recovered from a broken leg, to Gary Lineker, the world of football was quick to offer message of support.

The 20-year-old required oxygen as he was being taken off the field following a delay of about 10 minutes, with players from both sides looking concerned.

Shaw, who joined from Southampton for £30m in June 2014, has been in good form this season after his first year at United was hampered by injury.
