Siena set sights on Ronaldo
Siena chairman Giovanni Lombardi Stronati says his club are serious about trying to tempt Brazilian superstar Ronaldo to resurrect his career with them.
The 32-year-old is currently without a club, having suffered a serious knee injury last season while with AC Milan.
Stronati commented: "It's still all hypothetical, but it's not a joke that we are interested.
"We have let him know that if he wants to get back in shape and play at the top level, we can have him here at Siena.
"We have everything Ronaldo could need to develop a personal regime that would get him in top shape."
However, the agent of former Real Madrid and Internazionale great Ronaldo has poured cold water on suggestions that his client could be set for a return to Italy in the near future.
The striker is currently training with Flamengo back in his homeland, with Fabiano Farah revealing that a move back to Europe is not close at hand.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "It's still too early to talk about this kind of stuff.
"We were approached by an Italian side, but there are no negotiations and I can assure you that we haven't heard from the likes of Sampdoria or Siena."
Meanwhile, AC Milan have dismissed reports suggesting that they are lining up a move for Roma's French centre-back Philippe Mexes.
The 26-year-old has been with the capital club for just over four years, but was rumoured to be a target for the Rossoneri, with Marek Jankulovski and Daniele Bonera suggested as makeweights in any deal.
However, Milan have denied that talks over any such move have been instigated.
A statement on their official club website read: "The reports in several local newspapers regarding the possible arrival of Mexes to the Rossoneri in exchange for Jankulovski and Bonera have no truth whatsoever."
Mexes has scored seven goals in 144 appearances for Roma since his arrival from Auxerre in the summer of 2004.
