The Turkey striker, Nihat Kahveci, scored twice to lead Villarreal to a 3-1 win at Getafe yesterday in La Liga. Santiago Cazorla capped the day with a late strike as Villarreal ended a two-game losing run.

Nihat beat the goalkeeper, Oscar Ustari, with a shot inside the far post after a pass from Robert Pires in the 16th minute. The former Arsenal wide man again set up Nihat at the near post in the 79th minute for his second goal. Cazorla scored five minutes later before Kepa Blanco's late consolation for the hosts.

The win took Villarreal into third, three points behind Barcelona, and four adrift of Real Madrid who were due to entertain Osasuna last night.

The former Bara and Livingstone player, Guillermo Amor, was seriously injured yesterday in a car accident. The former Spanish international's vehicle reportedly hit a wall in the early hours near the village of L'Ametlla de Mar. Amor underwent abdominal surgery and was admitted to intensive care. Bara said the 40-year-old also suffered a partial fracture of the pelvis.

Amor was returning from Barcelona's 3-0 win at Valencia on Saturday, where he worked as a TV commentator. He was a prominent member of Johan Cruyff's"Dream Team" in the 90s, helping Bara win the 1992 European Cup, five Spanish league titles and the Copa del Rey three times.
