St Etienne fans unveil banner in support of Hillsborough campaign for victory over Lille

Fans of French club St Etienne unveiled a banner in support of the Hillsborough campaign during their win over Lille on Sunday.

The two clubs have enjoyed a close relationship since meeting in the European Cup quarter-final in 1977 - the Reds overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit to win 3-1 at Anfield, one of the stadium's most famous nights. Liverpool also went on to lift the trophy that year.

The message on the banner read: 'Hillsborough, 25 years of lies... Justice for the 96!'

St Etienne eventually beat Lille 2-0, thanks to a brace from former Leeds United winger Max Gradel.

Last Friday, the man in charge of Hillsborough on the day of the tragedy, David Duckenfield, that his failure was the direct cause of the deaths of 96 people.
