On-loan Olympiakos forward Joel Campbell has another opportunity to stake his claim for a proper place in the Arsenal squad when he lines up against Manchester United tonight.

The Costa Rican youngster was loaned out to the Greek side at the start of the season, and while his progress had gone largely unnoticed for most of the season, his goal in the first-leg of the last-16 Champions League tie against Manchester United put him on the radar.

But there is one particular person Campbell is keen to impress - Arsene Wenger.

Despite Campbell's fine goal three weeks ago, Wenger offered the 21-year-old no guarantees he wouldn't be sent out on loan again next season.

"I will decide that later. Why not? We bought him to bring him here,” the manager told arsenal.com.

Wener added: “He was good, convincing going forward [against Manchester United]. He looks like he has adapted a bit better to the physical side of the European game."

Campbell, who has also had loan spells at Lorient and Real Betis, said after the first-leg: "I believe I am ready to play for Arsenal next season.

"I have the capacity to play there and I am only waiting for the opportunity. With hard work I can get there."

That hard work will begin tonight, with an impressive performance against Manchester United only likely to improve his chances of remaining at the Emirates next term. If he shines at Old Trafford, he'll hope Wenger is there to see it.
