Hull City fans will be able to get home from the FA Cup final with Arsenal after extra trains were announced.

Concerns had been raised that the last train to Hull on 17 May left King’s Cross at 8pm, which would leave Tigers fans stranded if the game went to extra time and penalties.

But First Hull Trains have now confirmed that extra trains are being laid on to help fans, with the last one leaving London at 9.11pm. East Coast trains are also increasing their services in both directions for the day, with their last train departing at 9.35pm.

“We are very pleased to be able to operate these additional services,” said John Gelson of East Coast Trains. “We’ve worked very hard behind the scenes with Network Rail.  Like everyone else, we’re delighted to see Hull City in the final.”

Despite being the only fixture on the day, the Cup final has been moved to 5pm for TV purposes. It is Hull City’s first FA Cup final in their 110 year history.

Tickets for the extra trains went on sale this morning.
